Joint initiative launched with the University of Tokyo and Peach Aviation

Tokyo, Japan. 16 Feb 2022, 13PM JST: NABLA Mobility Inc. (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo, CEO: Shinji Tanaka, NABLA Mobility, “NABLA Mobility”, “Company”), Tsuchiya and Itoh Laboratory at Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the University of Tokyo (Bunkyo-ku Tokyo, “Tsuchiya & Itoh Lab”.), and Peach Aviation Limited Sennan-gun Osaka, CEO: Takeaki Mori, “Peach”) today announced their launch of a new joint initiative. The initiative aims to reduce the environmental footprint through collaboration between industry and academia.

While many countries in the world aim towards carbon neutrality, the reduction of carbon footprint (※1) in the aviation industry has been addressed in Japan as well. Under the initiative, NABLA Mobility, Tsuchiya & Itoh Lab., and Peach will propose a measure to reduce environmental footprint by combining the expertise of both Tsuchiya & Itoh Lab. and NABLA Mobility as well as utilizing flight data provided by Peach.

One of the proposals includes the optimization of airline operations. Tsuchiya & Ito Lab. and NABLA Mobility will take advantage of their research capability and data analytics technologies together with the flight data from Peach, to optimize aircraft trajectories from takeoff to landing at Kansai International Airport, a major hub of Peach, and others.

Peach, the first LCC in Japan and now aiming to become the leading LCC in Asia, has been proactively pursuing decarbonization in the aviation industry. Riding this wave of momentum, this new initiative will help accelerate product development and the implementation of effective measures to realize the decarbonization that is expected in aviation.
